Yeah, I've spent some time in the casinos of Las Vegas. But I never saw a card move quite as loco as this one. You might think card tricks are for suckers, that it's a fools sport. I admit, I thought the same thing until one day, around a crowded table in the Golden Nugget, I saw Esmeralda.
Be warned, this is a recreation of the event, not a step-by-step guide to how the dealer pulled off the move. I don't know his secrets or even what kind of game he was playing. As far as I was concerned at the time, I was in for a few hands of Blackjack.
But then, that's the thing with Vegas. It welcomes you in, real smooth. You show up, they roll out the red carpet, drinks in hand, everyone’s smiling, "Hey, look who’s here!" Next thing you know, you’re on top of the world! You’re winning, you’re dancing, you’re eating steak at 3 AM.
But Vegas, it pulls you in like a black hole with sequins! And just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, BAM! It turns on ya. One minute you’re riding high on Blackjack, the next -whoosh – Esmeralda shows up, flips the script, takes your chips, spits you out, broke, tired and wondering where your shoes went.
But oh, Las Vegas! What a ride. Yessir, you can spend a month there one night, no question.
